COPPA MILANO-SANREMO: THE XII RE-ENACTMENT ON THE GRID TODAY

 

May 6th 2021– The XII Historical Re-enactment of the Milano – Sanremo Cup, the most charming and ancient race in Italy, has started this morning from the Monza Circuit, which will be held from today to 8 May 2021, with the same spirit and the same passion of the “gentlemen drivers” who designed it in 1906, for an edition with a great number of logistical and sporting novelties.

First of all, the route that, for over 700 km along the Milano-Rapallo-Sanremo direction, will offer the “racing cars of the past” the discovery of landscapes with timeless charm, crossing the territories of Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria, ending in Sanremo. Competition and spectacularity will not be lacking: the crews will be able to compete on over ninety special tests (of which six are average), half of which are different from those proposed during the last edition, to make the entire race even more engaging and attractive from a sporting point of view.

 

There will be about 75 cars of great prestige and historical value that will take part to the event, with mainly Italian crews, excited to return to the track taking part in the competition that this year, for the first time in its history, will open the Italian Championship Great Events 2021 ACI Sport, reserved for competitions of classical regularity, to confirm the importance of the “Lady” of the races both for the sector and for the fans. At the start, important presence of this year, the iconic Lancia Dilambda “Blue Shadow” of 1930: the car, disappeared in 1940, returns today protagonist thanks to a long and meticulous restoration wanted and coordinated by the current owner.

Also from the Turin House, there will be a 1937 Lancia Aprilia Sport Zagato, one of the most particular cars on the automotive scene; among the other masterpieces in the race, a 1929 Alfa 6C 1750 Zagato SS, along with a 1930 Fiat 514 MM, a Singer Le Mans Ldt. of 1934 and to the pair of BMW 328 of 1938 and 1939, exemplary from the great charm, beyond that from the inestimabile historical value. Great expectations also for the famous Mercedes 300 SL of 1954 and another iconic of the Stuttgart House, a Mercedes 300 SL of 1963; new unmissable of the competition are represented by a Ferrari 330 GT Scaglietti of 1964 and a Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 Lightweight, listed as one of the most significant cars ever.

 

The race started this morning at the Autodromo di Monza, where technical, sports and free laps were held. Thanks to the well-established partnership with Mercedes-Benz, as institutional partner of the event, through the official dealer Merbag S.p.A. the AMG brand lovers had the opportunity to test exclusively their favorite supercars on over 5,700 meters of the legendary Brianza track. In the hospitality lounge of the Autodromo di Monza, Natuzzi Italia took care of the guests of the event with a selection of exclusive products, where it was also presented a special photo exhibition theme, dedicated to automotive passion and the great Mercedes tradition in motorsport.

 

In the afternoon there was the exclusive inaugural parade in the heart of the city of Milan starting from the headquarters of the Automobile Club Milan, passing through the streets of the fashion district until you get to the gates of the famous Castello Sforzesco, where the cars were officially presented to the public. The day ended with the official opening inside the garden of Milano Verticale | UNA Esperienze, the new flagship hotel UNA Group, located in the district of Porta Nuova – Garibaldi – Corso Como. During the evening there was an exclusive tribute dedicated to 100 years of Moto Guzzi which saw the award ceremony of four models of excellence, evaluated by a jury of experts present at the opening as the maximum expression of the legendary history of the brand

 

The XII Historical Reenactment also boasts illustrious partners starting from Urban Up | Unipol, the real estate project dedicated to the valorization of the real estate assets of the Unipol Group and IWC, Schaffhausen, historic brand of excellence Swiss watchmaking and official time keeper, both main sponsors of the event. Of great value is the consolidated partnership with Mercedes-Benz, as institutional partner of the event, through the official dealer Merbag S.p.A., in addition to the renewed collaboration with Cuvage, the Italian excellence of classic method sparkling wine that will be official supplier of the competition for the beverage sector and with Marina di Loano S.p.A., which will host one of the most fascinating stages of the route.
